Commonwealth North will host Michael Tubman, Congressional Affairs Fellow at Pew Center on Global Climate Change, for a briefing February 9th, from 7-8am at the Hilton Hotel. Mr. Tubman will speak on the international climate negotiation process, the outcomes of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen last December, the potential for future agreements, and US domestic policy on climate change and its influences.
Recently, climate change reform has wrapped the nation in debate over the consequences of environmental regulatory policy and its effects on industry and development. Public opinion on climate change has shifted dramatically over the past 20 years, thanks to intense media coverage about global warming - coverage that, for better or worse, has shaped both popular attitudes and the national political debate. Michael Tubman will give us the latest on how this controversial issue is taking shape in Washington and the international circles.
Michael Tubman is the Congressional Affairs Fellow for the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, where he tracks, analyzes, and engages in Congressional activity responding to climate change. He works with the Vice President for Federal Government Outreach on direct communication between the Center and the U.S. Congress.
Mr. Tubman has worked in environment, energy, and climate policy in the offices of Alaska Governors Knowles, Murkowski, Palin, and Parnell. He also has environmental policy experience consulting for the World Bank and conducting development work in West Africa. Mr. Tubman holds a Masters of Arts in International Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
